Raychem Aluminum to Copper Refrigerant Coupling
Raychem tube couplings provide a reliable solution for repairing leaks in aluminum or copper/aluminum joints. When heated with a propane torch, these one-piece couplings shrink to securely join and seal refrigerant tubing. Unlike traditional methods like welding or brazing, where joint quality depends on skill and preparation, Raychem couplings consistently create strong, dependable joints.
They are especially useful for joining copper or aluminum in challenging, tight spaces. These couplings offer trouble-free reliability, as their one-piece construction eliminates the risk of parts coming loose due to vibration after assembly. Additionally, Raychem tube couplings are stronger than the tubes they connect, capable of withstanding pressures up to the tubing's burst pressure, pullout forces beyond typical yield strength, and vibration fatigue up to tubing failure.
Installation is straightforward, requiring only a propane torch. No flux, solder, or wrenches are necessary. Just slide the coupling over the tube ends, apply heat, and monitor the color-changing bands at each end, indicating when the installation is complete (approximately 20 seconds for a 3/8" coupling). Since there is no residue, there's no need to flush the tubing. These couplings make it fast and easy to create permanent, reliable joints, even in hard-to-reach places.
They come blister carded and are available in 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", and 5/8" sizes.
